Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh Pays Tribute to Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay on his Jayanti

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh paid rich tributes to the pioneer of the Indian Renaissance, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, on his Jayanti.

​In a statement shared on social media, the Raksha Mantri highlighted Chattopadhyay’s towering role in shaping India’s freedom struggle. He emphasized how the iconic author’s writings instilled a profound sense of national pride, culture and unity at a time when the country was under colonial rule.

​Shri Rajnath Singh noted that Chattopadhyay’s extensive literary works gave a completely “new direction to the struggle for independence,” systematically awakening the spirit of ‘Swaraj’ and patriotism across generations.

The Raksha Mantri remarked that India’s national song ‘Vande Matram,’ which was originally composed by Chattopadhyay “infused new energy and enthusiasm among the people of India.”

​The Raksha Mantri further credited Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay with making Indian society deeply aware of its rich civilization, traditions and distinct national identity.
