Raksha Mantri pays tribute to Mangal Pandey, calls his sacrifice an eternal source of inspiration

India’s Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh paid heartfelt tributes to Mangal Pandey on his Balidan Diwas, remembering the revolutionary hero as a symbol of courage and patriotism.

In a message shared on ‘X’, Rajnath Singh honored Mangal Pandey’s pivotal role in igniting the spirit of resistance against British rule from the historic Barrackpore Cantonment during the First War of Independence. He described Pandey as an “immortal warrior” whose actions marked the beginning of a nationwide struggle for freedom.

The Defence Minister emphasized that Mangal Pandey’s supreme sacrifice continues to inspire generations of Indians to dedicate themselves to the protection of the nation and its cultural heritage. He added that the country will forever remain indebted to the bravery and commitment shown by the revolutionary.

Mangal Pandey is widely regarded as one of the earliest heroes of India’s freedom movement, and his legacy is commemorated annually across the nation.
