Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh extended warm greetings to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of its Statehood Day, lauding the Himalayan state for its contribution to national development and its globally recognised achievements in sustainable growth.
In a message shared on social media, Shri Rajnath Singh described the people of Sikkim as “warm, talented, simple, hardworking and friendly,” and said they have played a significant role in the progress of the country.
The Raksha Mantri particularly praised Sikkim for becoming the world’s first fully organic state, calling it a remarkable example of sustainable development. He noted that the state’s commitment to environmentally conscious policies has earned recognition across the globe.
“Sikkim has set remarkable examples of sustainable development by becoming the world’s first fully organic state,” RM said in his post.
He also expressed hope for the continued growth and prosperity of the northeastern state, wishing that Sikkim continues “to develop and prosper, going from strength to strength.”
Sikkim became the 22nd state of India on May 16, 1975, and every year the day is celebrated with cultural events and official programmes across the state.
