Union Home Minister lauds BSF for giving a befitting reply to Pakistan’s ceasefire violations

The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has lauded the role of Border Security Force (BSF) as the first line of defence for the country. Speaking at the 49th BSF Day Celebrations here today, he said that BSF jawans have been giving a befitting reply whenever Pakistan violated ceasefire. Shri Rajnath Singh said that when Pakistan recently violated the ceasefire, BSF dealt with it in the utmost restraint manner, but when provoked with frequent ceasefire violations, the response by the BSF men was commendable.
Shri Singh also called upon the BSF to play an active role in curtailing cattle smuggling across the Bangladesh border, besides checking illegal immigrationand dealing withnarcotics and fake currency notes being smuggled from this border.
The Union Home Minister said that people of India are harbingers of peace but if somebody dares hurt the country, the BSF will crush such evil designs with all the might at its disposal. Hailing the history of BSF as glorious, he congratulated the Force which has now entered its Golden Jubilee year of its foundation. The Home Minister said that a booklet should be published giving an account of all the supreme sacrifice made by the BSF men.
Highlighting the BSF`s role during war and peace time, Shri Rajnath Singh said that our BSF jawans are most concerned about national pride, and no power can cast an evil eye on our country. The BSF personnel always put the nation’s honour ahead of one’s own and family’s honour. He said that the government is apreware of the grievances of BSF personnel and was sensitive to the issues facing them.
Earlier, on the occasion, the Home Minister inspected the parade by BSF jawans and took the salute. It was followed by investiture ceremony, and presentation of various trophies in different categories. The attractions of the function included record holding “Janbaaz” motorcycle team, armed female contingent, Camel/ Horse unit and a display of the latest equipment and armaments.
