Union Home Minister felicitates medal winners of 2015 Fairfax World Police & Fire Games

The Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh has felicitated the medal winners of the recent 2015 Fairfax World Police & Fire Games held at Virginia, USA from June 26 to July 05, 2015. He was the chief guest in the function organized by All India Police Sports Control Board to felicitate the medal winners, here today.

Shri Rajnath Singh has said that the team has made India proud and the tricolor fly high. He wished that some of the present team members will bring Gold Medal in upcoming Brazil Olympics. The Union Home Minister, on team winning record-breaking 157 medals, wished that they win 300 medals in next Police Games.

Giving assurance on certain relaxations from the government, Shri Rajnath Singh has assured full support from the Centre. He also assured of setting up Centre of Excellence for the improvement of the games and to provide better practicing facilities to the sports personnel. Government is ready to do anything to the athletes who made India proud, he added.

In 2015 Fairfax World Police & Fire Games Indian team has won a record-breaking 157 medals including 88 Gold, 49 Silver and 20 Bronze. The tally of 157 medals is the highest of medals and at these prestigious Games has broken the record of 2013 World Police & Fire Games held at Belfast (Northern Ireland) wherefrom Indian Police team had come back with 48 Gold, 22 Silver and 13 Bronze medals (total 83 medals).

The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary, the Director, Intelligence Bureau, Shri Dinesh Sharma and other officials of Intelligence Bureau, All India Police Sports Control Board and sports persons have attended the function.
