Asia Leaders’ Meeting and 2nd ISDR Asia Partnership Meeting
The Asia Leaders’ Meeting towards Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in Asia and the 2nd ISDR Asia Partnership (IAP) meeting of 2015, organized by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, will be held in New Delhi next week.
Key dignitaries and senior ministers from eight countries, – China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, South Korea, and Thailand – are expected to attend the meeting to be inaugurated on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, and Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Disaster Risk Reduction, Ms. Margareta Wahlstrom, will also be part of the three-day-long high-level consultations focusing on effective implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 in the Asia region.
The IAP consultations, which will conclude on November 19, 2015, will focus on substantive preparations for the First Asian Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction after the Sendai meeting, scheduled to be hosted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India in New Delhi in November next year.
