Union Home Minister reviews infrastructure and security arrangements along the Indo-Nepal border
Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh reviewed the infrastructure development projects and security arrangements along the Indo-Nepal border in a meeting held here today.
During the meeting, a detailed presentation was made by the Border Management Division of the MHA. The administrative and environmental clearances for projects in the border areas were discussed. It was decided that the Home Ministry will take up the pending environmental issues with the concerned Chief Ministers and with the Minister of Environment and Forests for expediting these projects.
The progress of border roads in the states of Bihar, UP and Uttarakhand was also discussed. The issue of connectivity and communication in the border states was also discussed. It was informed that the matter of starting FM radio stations has been taken up with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the issue of connectivity with the Ministry of Communications & IT. The Empowered Committee on Border Infrastructure is regularly reviewing the needs of electricity, water, mobile and road connectivity to facilitate the working of border guarding force in these areas. The concerns of cross-border crime, Fake Indian Currency Notes, narcotics trafficking, human trafficking and anti-India propaganda in the border areas were also discussed in the meeting.
The review meeting was attended by Shri Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Rajiv Mehrishi, Union Home Secretary, Shri Anoop Kumar Srivastava, Secretary (Border Management), Shri B.D. Sharma, Director General, SSB and Senior Officers from the MEA, MHA and security agencies.
