Chandigarh, Sep 9 (PTI) Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today laid the foundation stone for the construction of Infosys Red-Cross Sarai (IRCS) at the PGIMER here.
Singh, who arrived in the Union Territory this afternoon, laid the foundation stone in presence of Punjab Governor and UT Administrator V P Singh Badnore, Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher, BJP leaders Sanjay Tandon and Avinash Rai Khanna, and UT Advisor Parimal Rai, among others.
A ‘puja ceremony’ was also held on the occasion, with Singh’s arrival at the venue getting slightly delayed due to heavy rain.
Notably, PGIMER caters to patients from different parts of the country and to facilitate the patients and their attendants, the ‘sarai’ would be constructed.
The land for the ‘sarai’ has been provided by the PGIMER to IRCS. The IRCS, Chandigarh will run the sarai which will be constructed at an approximate cost of Rs 12 crore, officials said.
