The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the celebration to commemorate the Canonization of Saint Mother Teresa here today. The event was jointly organised by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India, Archdiocese of Delhi, Diocese of Faridabad and Diocese of Gurugram.
During the occasion, Shri Rajnath Singh said that Saint Mother Teresa has always been referred as Mother because of the love given to her, as a Mother. He said that from Macedonia, Alexander came to India to conquer land but Saint Mother Teresa came with love to conquer hearts. The Home Minister said that diversified language in India could not act as a barrier to Saint Mother Teresa, because she knew the language of smile and it has been acknowledged across the world.
Shri Rajnath Singh said that as per Hindu culture, whole world is considered as one family and there comes no hatred, when we see others as a part of family. He further said that India is a ‘university of tolerance’ and for peaceful coexistence, tolerance is the building block.
Shri Rajnath Singh said that full security will be provided by the Government for all those who work towards humanity, in India. Recalling attacks on Minorities during the previous election in Delhi, he assured that Minorities will be protected in all possible ways.
The Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Shri Oscar Fernandes, Cardinal Baselios Cleemis, Cardinal Telesphore Toppo, Cardinal Oswald Gracias, Cardinal George Alencherry and other dignitaries were also present.
