Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh strongly condemned the disruption by the Opposition in Lok Sabha during a special discussion on the journey of Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who recently returned from the International Space Station (ISS) and ISRO as part of India’s space collaboration mission.
The discussion was on the topic “India’s Space Program and its role in Viksit Bharat 2047,” which was meant to celebrate the historic milestone for the nation and examine the strategic and scientific dimensions of India’s expanding space capabilities. However, Raksha Mantri said the proceedings in the House were repeatedly obstructed, preventing meaningful dialogue.
RM emphasized that such moments of national pride, especially achievements like India’s growing role in human spaceflight and strategic space missions should rise above partisan politics. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, the unprecedented heights India is reaching in space exploration are remarkable, RM further said.
Highlighting the symbolic significance of Group Captain Shukla’s journey as an IAF officer representing India in space, Raksha Mantri pointed out that the discussion was not only about space science but also about national pride and self-reliance. RM said the opposition could have participated in the discussion and provided constructive reviews and suggestions for India’s space program.
Raksha Mantri further asserted that topics like science and space, which are extremely important for India’s vision for Viksit Bharat 2047, should rise above politics and stand as a subject of national interest.
