On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh paid solemn tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, fondly remembered as the ‘Iron Man of India’. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is observed annually on October 31st, to commemorate Sardar Patel’s Jayanti and to reaffirm the nation’s commitment to unity and integrity. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, is credited with the integration of over 560 princely states into the Indian Union — a feat that earned him the title “Iron Man of India”.
