Raksha Mantri Pays Tribute to Raja Ram Mohan Roy on his Jayanti
Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh paid rich tributes to social reformer Raja Ram Mohan Roy on his Jayanti, describing him as a pioneer of the Indian Renaissance and a visionary reformer who laid the foundation of modern India.
In a message shared on social media, the Raksha Mantri said that Raja Ram Mohan Roy fought courageously against social evils, superstitions and inhumane practices prevalent in society, particularly the practice of ‘Sati’. He noted that Rammohan Roy’s efforts played a crucial role in bringing progressive social change and strengthening the ideals of a modern and enlightened India.
Shri Rajnath Singh further praised the reformer’s progressive thinking, sharp intellect and unwavering commitment to social reform. He said that Raja Ram Mohan Roy’s ideals and dedication to humanity would continue to inspire generations across the nation.
Raja Ram Mohan Roy is widely remembered for his contributions to social and educational reforms in India and for advocating women’s rights, modern education and freedom of thought during the 19th century.
