Raksha Mantri hails milestone moment as first batch of Apache attack helicopters arrive in India

In a significant step towards strengthening India’s defence capabilities, the Indian Army received the first batch of Apache AH-64E helicopters from the United States on July 22, 2025.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh said these advanced helicopters will enhance the Army Aviation wing’s operational effectiveness, especially in challenging terrains. The combat helicopter, AH-64E Apache, is one of the world’s most advanced multi-role combat helicopters. Calling it a proud moment, RM said it reflects India’s commitment to modernising the Armed Forces.

In a post on ‘X’, RM said, “The arrival of the first batch of Apache helicopters for the Indian Army is a significant step towards strengthening India’s defence capabilities. These advanced helicopters will enhance the Army Aviation wing’s operational effectiveness, especially in challenging terrains. A proud moment reflecting our commitment to modernising the Armed Forces.”

The induction of the first batch of AH-64E Apache attack helicopters into the Indian Army Aviation Corps is part of strategic deal signed with the United States, these state-of-the-art combat machines bring unmatched agility, advanced targeting and lethal strike capabilities to our forces. With their arrival, the Apache helicopters are set to redefine India’s air combat potential, especially in high-threat zones and tough terrain. Designed for both offence and multi-mission roles such as reconnaissance and security, the Apache’s cutting-edge weapon systems and all-weather precision make it a force multiplier. This milestone is more than just an equipment upgrade, it reflects India’s commitment to modernising its military might and ensuring our armed forces are battle-ready for any challenge.
